I recently bought a few new items for our house, and every time I use or look at them, they bring me such joy. Although Serena & Lily is undoubtedly on the expensive side, the quality and style make it worthwhile. They also provide outstanding customer service and fantastic design services. When Serena Dugan, an independent textile designer and decorative painter, put her portfolio in Lily Kanter’s boutique in 2003, she had no idea it would lead to a commercial cooperation. Within two hours of their first meeting, the two ladies had agreed to launch a baby line, and within six months, 600 stores carried their products.
From its headquarters in Sausalito, California, the company quickly expanded to offer baby bedding, children’s bedding, adult bedding, furniture, and decorative accessories. In 2013, the firm transitioned from wholesale to direct sales to clients, propelling it to new heights of success.
It currently has its own dedicated stores around the country and is gaining a lot of media attention as a consequence of its high-profile celebrity associations, such as building the nursery for Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s children. This brand’s inventory is filled with treasures, from bar stools to pillows, mattresses, bookcases, dining tables, and more. But in this review, I’ll focus on a few of the brand’s must-haves to save you time and help you get a feel of their distinct look.
My first Serena & Lily fave is the Shore Bench. It’s even more stunning in person! It can also be utilized in SO many other spaces, so you don’t have to buy it just for one. It’s in my living room and under the stairs. It’s ideal for displaying your favorite cushions. You can also buy a cushion, but I didn’t get one since I wanted to view more of the rattan.
This item also looks great at the foot of a bed. It is the ideal size for a king bed. It would also look great in an entryway. I like how it is neutral and can blend with any color palette. This will be a family favorite for many years to come! It’s also really pleasant to sit on! It can also look great in a breakfast nook or as a dining room table bench.
Our next pick comes from the legendary classic Riviera collection. If you don’t already have Riviera furniture in your home, you should get one! The Riviera Backless Bench was purchased for the end of my bed. It’s the ideal location to sit and put your shoes on, or to add your favorite cushions. This item would also look fantastic at your dining room table or in your foyer. I like how it comes in a variety of colors. It’s quite comfy and of excellent quality! Furthermore, because it wipes off easily, this line is ideal for families.
I’m fairly sure every parent blogger on Instagram has them, but they’re a great piece to have in your collection. They are lightweight and portable, and each one is distinctive due to knots in the wood. These are fantastic for bathroom décor or utility (to set items on next to the bath tub). They are also adorable in a child’s room!
I bought the Riviera Lidded Storage Bin to store toys in Madison’s room. This item has various applications and will undoubtedly grow with us. It may also be utilized as a clothing hamper in the future. The girls also use it as a bench. It’s quite strong and long-lasting, yet it cleans up easy!
Tank is the word for this rug. It has withstood two kids (my nephews), everyday use while I’ve worked remotely from home the last two years, and now a full grown dog! I keep expecting it to break down, but instead it keeps going. The white wool components shed a little at first, but I haven’t had any shedding concerns since, even with a dog who gave it a good run of the “zoomies” with sharp puppy nails.
There haven’t been any huge challenging stains to clean, but there have been lots of coffee spills, washable paint splatters, and general wear and strain. This rug is fantastic at disguising stains. And, if I’m being truthful, I’ve stopped looking for them when I hop out to get cleaning and then can’t even find the damn stain when I return.
The only drawback I can think of isn’t particularly unique to this rug, but I see it more because of the textured quality of the rug. I’ve shifted my desk around and altered the arrangement, and you can see some wear where the chair and my feet have were. Moving my furniture arrangement every now and then appears to lessen the problem by balancing the wear, but if you don’t like changing things around, I’d propose rotating the rug every time you change your mattress.
This was the first item I purchased from S&L about eight years ago! We were living in a 500 sq. ft. apartment in Long Beach, California, and needed to start updating some of our college hand-me-downs, but I didn’t want to spend on items that would just be useful on just our temporary home. This table was ideal as a bar cart in our open concept living room and has since lived a thousand lives. It’s become a mainstay for our yearly get together and has now resided in three of our houses.
If we remodel our kitchen and add a more permanent pantry, I love that I can move it upstairs and use it as an end table in a bedroom, etc. It still looks just as brand-new as the day we purchased it, and I haven’t encountered any of the problems I anticipated, such as dust etc. I’d argue that this cart has started to resemble a Serena & Lily emblem, and I can understand why. It’s undoubtedly one of their items with the most versatility.
I wasn’t after something upholstered. But with a messy partner and our rather plain dining table, I needed something aesthetically appealing. Additionally, I wanted something that was colored or textured to contrast, but not outshine, my cherished antique bamboo chairs.
With its woven stripe and stark white finish, this chair initially made me anxious, but over time, I warmed up to it and now consider it one of my favorites!
The chairs’ excellent construction, which includes strong nylon webbing beneath the rattan, is perhaps what shocked me the most. They are pretty supportive and comfy due to their ideal amount of give, however if you’re wearing shorts, I will warn you that you will regret sitting in them for an extended period of time.
And given that we use our dining area frequently, I’m amazed that we haven’t experienced any food becoming trapped in the weave. However, I’d advise keeping items like PlayDoh away from the chair, for the sake of your own sanity. If I weren’t so fixated on my antique bamboo chairs that I currently own, I would probably purchase these again and add the side chairs too.
I think Serena & Lily items are essential. Yes, they’re little pricy, but their design and color combinations are unique! These are excellent products of long-lasting quality. Their products have lasted me for almost a decade, and they are in such good condition!
You will like these in your own home if you have a coastal farmhouse design as I do. I currently have their items all around my house. Additionally, my parents have them in the guest bathroom, kids’ bathroom, pool house bathroom, and powder room. The dip-dyed stool is not restricted to just bathrooms, it may be placed in any area.
